Orleans has been a prominent city in French history, particularly due to its proximity to Paris. During the Middle Ages it had one of the only bridges crossing the River Loire, making it one of the richest cities in the country along with Rouen and Paris. Orleans was blighted by much fighting, particularly during the 100 years’ war and both world wars, but restoration and regeneration have managed to give it a new face – albeit with several old beauty spots remaining.
As capital of the Loiret department and of the Centre region, Orleans has a good economy and also thrives as a tourist spot. There are plenty of things to see and do, both in the city itself and the surrounding areas. Kyriad Orléans Ouest-La Chapelle Saint Mesmin hotel has all the facilities you could wish for during your stay and you’re sure to have a wonderful time exploring this part of France.
